It is the carbine variant of the M6 Series of sidearms made by Misriah Armory, and is used by the UNSC Army

A carbine, is a cutdown version of a rifle, or shortened weapon. with an attached stock. It is very likely than the M6J is a much heavier, longer version of a M6D in order to reach this mid-point between rifles and sidearms, or perhaps even an entirely other weapon with a similar designation due to its mutual cartridge.
This is the only known firearm designed only for the UNSC Army.
