The Insurrection is the proper name given to the civil war which was fought by the UNSC and the rebels of various planets of the outer colonies. UNSC Marines held Insurrectionists in low esteem and refer to them as "Innies."
It is mentioned in the "blurb" at the back of the novel Halo:Contact Harvest.
