"I was like a boy playing on the sea-shore and diverting myself now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me."
— Isaac Newton

The Society of the Ancients is a human organization (1995-2007?) to compile information related to the hypothesis regarding alien visitors on planet Earth, referred to as "Ancients", who helped humanity construct technology. Among the evidence is an image of the Forerunner symbol etched in rock by N'chala in 100,000 BCE.

It was created by Dave George after he spent a memorable evening at a barbecue with his neighbor, Aaron Elliot. The conversation turned to a book series Elliot was into that dealt with unsolved ancient mysteries. Intrigued by the subject, George began researching it heavily and shortly became obsessed. After SOTA's creation, they attracted 510 members by 2007.
