Open Season is a medal awarded in Halo 3 Multiplayer for killing 10 opponents in a row with the Shotgun without dying. Melees with the Shotgun do not contribute towards gaining this medal. It is represented by a bronze five-pointed star with three green shotgun shells. This medal can be easily obtained through many maps, but is easiest to get on common camping spots or in objective-based games where the focus is drawn away from killing. Especially on maps like Epitaph, Foundry and Guardian. [1]
Notes
- Snowbound is an easy map to acquire this medal on. Grab the shotgun in the caverns below the surface, then patrol that same underground area, utilizing the energy doors and narrow corridors to trap opponents.
- Guardian is another easy map on which to obtain this medal. Just camp at the vent where you got the Shotgun, and look out for the action above. You can also camp near the Yellow Lift.
- The medal was nicknamed "Cheneymania" during development, a reference to the February 2006 Dick Cheney hunting incident.
