A File is the smallest infantry unit within the Covenant army. The group usually consists of around four to five Grunts[1] or Jackals.[2] A File is usually lead by a Grunt Major, Elite Minor or Brute Minor. A File is the Covenant equivalent to a UNSC Fire Team. A Lance is the unit above a File.
