The Ark is a mysterious Forerunner device from which all the Halos can be activated. In the end of Halo 2, Delta Halo is armed and then unexpectedly shut down, causing it to send a superluminal signal to all other Halos in the galaxy, putting them on standby mode. 343 Guilty Spark informs Miranda Keyes and Sergeant Johnson that the Halos must now be detonated or shut down from "The Ark". The location of the Ark is somewhere on Earth, probably in New Mombasa.

In I Love Bees, the Ark is portrayed as a cylinder roughly the size of a tire, with triangles, lines and dots running around the rim like a tire tread. When touched in that order, a signal is sent to the Halos slowly decaying in a countdown. When the signal ends, the Halos fire. Touching the symbols in the opposite order causes the Ark to send out a signal to the Halos, deactivating them.

It is expected that Halo 3 will reveal more details about the Ark.
