The Inner Colonies can be defined by two definitions:
The Inner Colonies are human controlled planets that were terraformed to support life. These planets were colonized first seeing on how close they are from [[Earth]]. It was possible to get to these systems by using the [[Shaw-Fujikawa Slipspace Drive]] engine.
*The colonies closer to [[Earth]], or
*The colonies that were first colonized and have grown more than the [[Outer Colonies]].
