The Shortsword is a type of UNSC aircraft used in the first engagements with the Covenant.
It is a UNSC fighter that may have preceded the Longsword Fighter/Bomber. It was once thought to be the Skyhawk in the Halo Wars trailer but has since been named in a desktop picture from Halowars.com.[1]

The Shortsword can't use the Shaw-Fujikawa Slipspace Drive.
