Corporal Jim Higgins was a UNSC Marine NCO assigned to Earth in 2552 during The Second Battle of Earth. He was a crew chief for the Pelican dropship flown by Sergeant Laura "Smokes" Tanner. He and Tanner provided transportation for SPARTANs Frederic-104, Linda-058, and William-043 as they countered the Covenant incursions on the Yucatan Peninsula and Havana during the battle.
