Biography

Shane was a Spartan-III supersoldier. He was born in 2525 and was orphaned when his parents were killed in The Battle of Harvest in 2531. He was sent to an orphanage until he volunteered for the Spartan-III project at age six. He hoped to get revenge on the Covenant for killing his family and destroying his home.

Shane was sent to Camp Currahee on Onyx to be trained with Alpha Company. The first day there, he was pushed out of a Pelican by another Spartan recruit, Robert, during a Falcon Wing descent exercise. [1] When they both landed on the ground, he and Robert began to fight, and had to be broken up by Chief Petty Officer Mendez and Kurt 0-51. [2]

He eventually grew close to Robert and Jane, and together they were Team Wolf Pack. He was killed during Operation: PROMETHEUS, along with all 300 of the Spartans of Alpha Company, by a Plasma Mortar. [3]

Actually Shane along with Jane and Robert were the three remaining spartans out of Alpha Company (originally containing 300 spartans) fighting toghter in operation PROMETHEUS. He didn´t actually died along with the others, he was the last one standing. The last time Shane is however seen alive is when Kurt together with Colonel Ackerson, Mendez, Vice Admiral Parangosky and Rear Admiral Rich watches him tumble through the air and shortly afterwards landing on the ground unmoving, this because of a detonation...then the video ends. (Page 87, Ghosts of Onyx) He is most likely asumed to be killed in action but without any evidential proofs he must be listed as MIA or WIA also since SPARTANS are never listed as KIA...

It is also worth mentioned that Kurt disliked the fact that SPARTAN III's were only sent out on high risk operations wearing less protection than the SPARTAN II's. The differences between the more expensive but more effective MJOLNIR suit and the SPARTAN III's SPI (Semi-powered infiltration armor) made it more diffucult for SPARTAN III's to survive. Kurt also knew that the candidates for the SPARTAN III program didn´t completely matched the perfect psychological and genetic markers set in Dr. Halseys original selection protocols...
