This war brought a great deal of suffering to the people of Earth, and created a famine for many people.

In the post-war period there are massive population surges and the overpopulation, coupled with the destruction and famine bred by the Rain Forest Wars, which threatened to destabilize the economy.
A Soldier's Tale: Rainforest Wars was written about this event. This book is a favorite of CPO Franklin Mendez, and described as a "military classic" in Ghosts of Onyx.
