Tank Jumping, otherwise known as Tank Pinball, is a neat little way to make Scorpions go flying. First, set Scorpions as Primary Heavy Vehicle on the Halo 2 multi-player map Coagulation. Then drive up the rock near the Shotgun spawn until the Scorpion flips over. Then, have the other person drive up the flipped Scorpion with another Scorpion so that one is completely on top of the other. Then flip over the bottom Scorpion and the top Scorpion will go flying across the map, continuously spinning. Scorpions can be kept in the air for a surprising amount of time, bouncing off walls, the ground, the invisible ceiling, and sometimes clipping onto the top of the map. Of course, if this last occurs, the tank's driver will be instantly killed by the Guardians.
You may also send yourself flying by using a similar technique. However, instead of sending yourself flying in a Scorpion, you may leap large distances yourself. First, position your tank like you would if you were launching a Scorpion then stand on the tank and flip it. You will go flying very far. You can go even farther by first getting oversheild (you can use black eye to get this in campaign) then standing on the treads of the scorpion while flipped over. You stand at the top and then run down the treads flipping at the last second. You will usually die without oversheild the second you flip it and in campaign you will die anyway unless you land on something higher or you don't fly very far. This is of course, because of the fall timer.
Tank jumping can also occur, with a bit more work, in campaign mode. In the level Delta Halo, get the Scorpion to the chapter "You Break It, You Buy It." After killing all the enemies in the area, blow up the energy shield right next to the fountain and center the tank on the shield emitter. Sit there until the shield turns on. Move or fire your cannon, and you should go flying around, spinning the whole time. This technique was pioneered in November of 2004 and hence filmed by Lleyad.com. This is often far more entertaining, although also more lethal, then the multiplayer version. This can also be accomplished slightly later on in the level, when you come up on the final outdoor structure. If the trick works, the Scorpion will be flung into the air, often exploding.
Also in any level with a Wraith and a Scorpion tank in Halo 2, you can make the tank go flying. In co-op mode, get in the Wraith and have your partner in the Scorpion. Position the Wraith behind the Scorpion and use the boost on the rear end of the Scorpion. This should send it flying through the air. In Slayer mode, this can also be done if the heavy vehicle settings are set to random on a large map. There is also another neat little trick that will produce almost the same results on the Halo 2 map Zanzibar. First set the primary heavy vehicle to a Scorpion Tank. Get into the Scorpion Tank and drive it around the windmill. Drive the tank into the windmill with the front part facing the beach. Keep the tank level as the blade pushes you up the windmill. When the front part of the tank hits the walkway, the tank will then starts flying aimlessly through the air.
Another way is to use a Scorpion tank on the level Delta Halo and get to the point where there are five portable shields in front of you. Deactivate them by shooting them with the Scorpion's guns, drive over at least three of them, and wait for them to reappear. When they reappear, the shield is sticking through the Scorpion. Move a little and the Scorpion will go spinning off in a direction. Do it correctly and it will go flying all around of the map.
