René was conscripted into the SPARTAN-II Program in 2517. When the time came for the Spartan augmentations in 2525, René became crippled and could not fight anymore. She was last known to be floating in a neural buoyancy gel tank next to Kirk, with his or her skeletal system twisted beyond recognition "so that they hardly looked human anymore". The last time René was seen was on the UNSC Carrier Atlas. Her current whereabouts are unknown to date, even the gender.[1] However, it is most likely that she would proceed to command the UNSC, as all who could not engage in actual combat went to command school.
