Dwarka was a human Outer Colony planet of the Unified Earth Government.

Overview[edit]

Topography and ecology[edit]

Dwarka was only partially terraformed, with portions of its surface covered by forests of blue-gray trees. It was home to many plant species, including trees which produced needles (likely a type of pine), plants that caused an irritating rash when touched, and plants that produced berries, some of which were edible and some poisonous.[3]

A species of toothless, squirrel-like creatures were native to this planet. These "ghost squirrels" avoided many poisonous plants, allowing those who watched their foraging to know what was safe to eat. They were covered in fur and were noted as having a "spongy, bitter meat". The forests were home to many insects that fed on decaying plant matter and congregated under rotting tree branches, including pale white larvae, orange and blue spotted beetles, large-jawed centipedes, and worms. Dwarka presumably had some large predators as well.[3]

Dwarka was home to some form of microbial disease that could cause death in less than a week unless treated.[3]

Known residents[edit]

History[edit]

Rise of humanity[edit]

Dwarka was colonized in 2460.[1]

An insurrectionist camp was once stationed on the planet, holding prisoners they interrogated for data against the UNSC.[7]

Around 2517 or so, the planet was still in the process of being terraformed.[3]

In 2524, future ONI Vice Admiral Gabriella Dvørak was stationed on the planet.[8]

Human-Covenant war[edit]

In 2530,[9] the planet was glassed by the Covenant[4] in the Siege of Dwarka.

Post-war[edit]

After the war, the fetcher Oliver Birch came across a relatively intact and abandoned colony ship among the planet's field of debris, CAA Butterworth. The only survivor aboard the ship was a three-legged dog, Mabel.[10]

Trivia[edit]

The planet is likely named after Dwarka, a city in India.
