'''Emblems and backdrops''' are an element of player customization within ''Halo Infinite'' that represent a player's identity. Emblems can be applied to player cards, [[armor customization (Halo Infinite)|armor]], [[weapon customization|weapons]], and [[vehicle customization|vehicles]].
By default, the player possesses an array of emblems to use for free, however, like [[Armor coatings (Halo Infinite)|armor coatings]], there are other means to obtain emblems. They can be earned through [[Battle Pass|Battle]] and [[Event|Operation]] passes, [[Challenges/Halo Infinite|challenges]], [[Halo Infinite promotional content|promotional campaigns]] and [[Shop Bundles|bundles]]. Additionally, some emblems are exclusive for certain acts such as reaching [[Rank (Halo 5: Guardians)|SR-152]] in ''[[Halo 5: Guardians]]'', reaching a certain [[Rank (Halo Infinite)|rank]] in ''Halo Infinite's'' ranked playlists, or for getting a piece of art featured in the ''Halo'' Community Spotlight.
Acting more in line with ''Halo 5: Guardians'' over ''[[Halo: The Master Chief Collection]]'', emblems and nameplates are synonymous, with the player's choice of emblem affecting how their nameplate's graphic appears. The player's nameplate can be seen in the pre-game intro, and in relevant menus involving the player. In place of nameplates, '''backdrops''' are available, a graphic behind the nameplate that adds an extra layer of flare to the player's profile.
