Jiralhanae Chosen Warriors are a class of Jiralhanae who serve the Banished.[1]

Overview[edit]

Roles and responsibilities[edit]

In contrast to those granted the title of Atriox's Chosen, which is drawn from Jiralhanae across ranks,[2] Chosen Warriors are selected from Jiralhanae Warriors that have proved themselves in battle. Chosen warrior is a formal title, and they have extended authority and jurisdiction, operating with a greater level of autonomy than their previous stations.[1]

Typically, chosen warriors command lower warrior squads, leading their alloyed cohorts into battle. Despite their elevated status, chosen warriors lead the same contentious, embattled lives as lower-ranking warriors and fiercely compete with each other for the favor of their leaders.[1]

History[edit]

Multiple chosen warriors participated in the battle for Zeta Halo. One notably commanded the flame-bore's crew at Site Novem.[3]

Equipment[edit]

Jiralhanae chosen warriors typically wear augmented gold power armor that bear markings which befit their new status.[1] The armor is also equipped with energy shielding.[4] They also get first choice of weapons from the armories, and as such, many utilize non-standard weapons, including those of Forerunner and UNSC design.[1]

In-game information[edit]

Chosen warriors wear golden power armor enhanced with personal energy shields. They typically use Sentinel beams, although some wield the M41 rocket launcher and carry Manglers as sidearms. Like standard warriors, chosen warriors carry Jovokada Workshop spike grenades.

Chosen warriors are more durable than all variants of standard Jiralhanae Warriors. If struck by an upgraded grappleshot, chosen warriors will not be electrocuted. They will instead assume a defensive posture and freeze themselves in place for several seconds (essentially the same effect). Chosen warriors that use the rocket launcher are particularly dangerous, as they can kill the player with one or two direct hits. As with other Jiralhanae enemies in the game, chosen warriors' helmets can be shot off, rendering them vulnerable to a precision headshot. Typically, a single direct hit from a rocket launcher will kill a chosen warrior at full health and shields on any difficulty.

Production notes[edit]

In Halo Infinite's Forge, shielded variants of Jiralhanae are distinguished from their unshielded counterparts by being labelled as "Chosen". Subsequently, the unshielded variant of the Jiralhanae Chosen Warrior—which never appears in campaign—is erroneously called "Brute Warrior" to match its shielded variant being called "Brute Warrior, Chosen". Instead, the blue and purple variants of the actual Jiralhanae Warriors are called "Brute Minor" and "Brute Commando", respectively. The Forge menu also mislabelled Jiralhanae Warlord Chieftains as "Brute Chieftain, Chosen".
