Laconia Station[1] was a space station used by the United Nations Space Command's Spartan Operations branch under the logistical and strategic oversight of the volitional AI known as Leonidas. Hidden within human space, the station was destroyed by order of Cortana in 2559 during the Created conflict, though Laconia is survived by its sister-stations Naxos and Virgo.[2][3]

History[edit]

Destruction of Laconia[edit]

Leonidas later made contact with Cortana, who ordered him to destroy the station in order to remove the threat that the 76 Spartans still aboard posed. Leonidas complied, destroying the station and presumably killing everyone on board. After learning of this from Cortana's memories, John-117 and the Weapon were horrified by this callous act and the murder of so many Spartans.[1] The destruction of the station was so notorious that even War Chief Escharum of the Banished knew of it, estimating at least fifty Spartans had died, asking the Master Chief if he mourned the loss of so many fellow Spartans.[4]

Trivia[edit]

Laconia Station is named after the region of Laconia, Greece. The region has a deep connection to the ancient Spartans as the administrative capital of Laconia is Sparta itself.

Production notes[edit]

It is possible that Laconia Station is the unidentified Spartan-IV training station featured in Halo: New Blood, Lessons Learned, and Halo: Bad Blood. See here for more information.
