The Cindershot is a hardlight grenade launcher designed and created for use by the Forerunners.[3][5][6]
Overview[edit]
Design details[edit]
The Cindershot fires ionized particle grenades consisting of "hyper-charged splinter cores", which explode seconds after launching, damaging anything caught in its explosion.[3] When fired while the optics are engaged, the weapon is able to guide the projectile with its aim, allowing the operator to manually guide the projectile onto a target.[1]
When reloading, the front of the Cindershot is pulled back, allowing more hard-light grenades to move to the front of the barrel, before it snaps back to its original position.[5]
Variants[edit]
- Backdraft Cindershot: A white-painted Cindershot variant which employs a modified firing core with three-phase sequential detonation.[1] It deals significantly more damage per shot than its standard counterpart. Carried by Myriad during the Battle for Zeta Halo, though it's unknown how the Mgalekgolo pair used it in combat.
In-game information[edit]
“ | Hardlight grenade launcher with a deadly, implosive blast. Can control projectile mid-flight while zoomed in.[7] | ” |
The Cindershot is a hardlight grenade launcher that serves a similar role to that of the Tufasumo-pattern plasma caster, but its explosion pulls in targets in close proximity. The projectile must ricochet from a surface once before detonating at the next point of impact. The Cindershot has an alt-fire mode that allows the projectile to follow the wielder's direction. The projectiles are capable of killing a Spartan in two direct explosions.
