*The M-Spec Reentry Pack is likely a two part system, consisting of the back pack device that Noble Six is seen wearing, and also a detachable cockpit system. This is likely because a backpack type Reentry system seems like a very last resort method of survival; and also Jorge needs Six's authorization code to open the cockpit likely meaning that the cockpit section could detach if the rest of the sabre took to much damage and the the Reentry backpacks were just a backup in case cockpit also took excessive damage.

The M-Spec Reentry Pack in Halo: Reach.

The M-Spec Reentry Pack, also known as the Reentry Unit, is a piece of UNSC equipment. The reentry pack is integrated into the FSS-1000 Sabre, hooking onto the pilot's back as soon as they enter.[1] It is possible to holster a sidearm inside the reentry pack.[2] It was used by SPARTAN-B312 to safely drop from orbit onto the surface of Reach after Operation: UPPER CUT.[3]

Production notes[edit]

According to the Halo: Reach Legendary Edition developer commentary, the reentry pack is integrated into the FSS-1000 Sabre fighter, hooking onto the pilot's back as soon as they enter.[1] However, during the launch cutscene, there is no reentry pack visible on the cockpit seat, or anywhere within automatic clamping distance of the pilot. Additionally, the reentry pack cannot be seen during gameplay.
