Habit-To-Sever,[1] or Commander Sever,[2] was a Forerunner Warrior-Servant of the Promethean order.[1]
Biography[edit]
Forerunner-Flood War[edit]
Habit-To-Sever fought and died in the height of the Forerunner-Flood war. Late in the conflict, Habit fought alongside fellow warriors Animus-To-Remain and Malice-Begets-Demise in the defence of the shield world Trove. During the battle, the three Prometheans fought a sacrificial defensive effort to defend the shield world's damaged monitor 295 Harken Watch, allowing it to retreat and seal off the shield world interior from Flood forces.[1]
A new purpose[edit]
At some point, an essence of Habit-To-Sever (alongside those of Animus, Malice and Endurance-of-Will) was discovered by human forces of the United Nations Space Command, and implemented into the War Games training simulations for Spartan Operations personnel. During the simulations, Habit-To-Sever was titled "Commander Sever", and took the form of an orange-coloured Knight Commander with blue hard light accents.[2]
Gameplay[edit]
Commander Sever appears as a boss in Halo 5: Guardians' Warzone Firefight mode. In-game, Commander Sever is a Legendary boss that appears on Urban. Sever, Animus-To-Remain, and Malice-Begets-Demise appear together as the Knight Trio. Sever is armed with a lightblade, a Z-250 lightrifle and a Z-390 incineration cannon.[2]
Production notes[edit]
Habit-To-Sever originally appeared in the Warzone mode as a boss character alongside Animus-To-Remain and Malice-Begets-Demise, at the time simply known as "Commander Sever". Their full name and backstory would not be unveiled until the 2022 release of the Halo Encyclopedia (2022 edition), with Jeff Easterling later hinting at the trio's identities being hinted at in the book at the Halo World Championship Canon Fodder Live panel later that year.[3]
