Halo 5: Guardians skulls are game modifiers featured in Halo 5: Guardians with the appearance of a human skull. The skulls are the same from Halo: Reach and Halo 4. Just like in previous installments like Halo 3 and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary skulls are collectibles that the player will be awarded with an achievement for founding the first and the last fo them, and can also be accessed in the campaign menu after claiming them in the levels in which they're found.

Campaign Skulls
A third, time-limited difficulty of Warzone Firefight, Mythic Warzone Firefight, is the same as Legendary Warzone Firefight except that it adds difficulty skulls, with more being added in every successive round. The scoring factor is 150% that of Heroic Warzone Firefight's.

!Multiplier
Unlike previous games, the skull score multipliers in Halo 5: Guardians are added onto each other. The maximum score multiplier from skulls alone is 19.5×; on Legendary difficulty, this multiplier is raised by 300% to 78×, meaning that killing a Warden Eternal with a power weapon will result in the player scoring 1,606,800 points (78×(20,000+600)).

* An enemy being in the Gravity Hammer's shockwave area of effect

Just like in Halo 4, the low shield warning beep and shield down sound effects are removed except in Mythic Warzone Firefight. In addition, unlike in Halo 2, Overshields are completely nullified, and any revived characters, along with their revivers, will have only health and no shields if their shields have been wiped out. Health will not be immediately restored after reviving a teammate either, making reviving more dangerous in combat situations. AI-controlled teammates can still recharge their shields, however. In addition, the following missions feature scripted events that recharge players' shields regardless:
* Unconfirmed - at the beginning of the boss fight against the Warden Eternal.
* Evacuation - the ending of the level where the player must run to the Pelican while the Guardian starts generating pulse blasts.
* Battle of Sunaion - towards the end of the level, where a Guardian rises and causes a Phantom to almost crash on the Spartans of Fireteam Osiris. This can be missed if the player's shields are completely down.
* Genesis - during the run down the Guardian, when it conjures pulse blasts. These scripted events can be missed, however.
* Guardians - there are multiple scripted shield recharge sequences: one of which occurs near the beginning when a Guardian throws a pulse blast and vanishes into a slipspace portal; and several more at the end of the level where Osiris must reach and destroy the relay to free Blue Team from Cortana's Cryptum while being attacked by a Guardian.

Effect: All AI-controlled units, friend or foe, throw grenades more often, where applicable. It even affects scripted grenades. For example, on the level Crow's Nest, on the part where the Warthog is hit by a Plasma Grenade, it will now be hit by two, three, or even four. The Catch Skull has no effect on Flood. It should be noted that characters will throw an unlimited amount of grenades at their enemies. The skull actually does seem to increase the number of Kamikaze Grunts. It has been observed that the Marines will sometimes throw grenades with reckless abandon, similar to their behavior in Halo: Combat Evolved.

#Hijack the Anti-Air Wraith and maneuver it so the back (the part with the plasma mortar, or in this case, fuel rod launchers) touches the base of the silo where the ground rises slightly; then, simply get out. The only problem is that this will cause an NPC Hornet to fire upon the standard Wraith, and the Wraith may focus its fire on you, so you will need to work a little quickly. The Anti-Air Wraith should remain still while you jump on the back and onto the top of the silo.
#Explosive Jump.
#Park a Ghost below, then jump from it onto the building. Use an Explosive Jump if necessary.
#Park one Ghost on the Wraith-side, then get another Ghost and park it on top. You should be able to simply jump on top of the Ghosts, then onto the silo.
#Take a Deployable Cover, then use it between the red wall and the building. Move out of the way and you can use the cover as a stepping stone.
#On Co-op, one player can jump onto the other player's head, then onto the building.
#Drive the Warthog at the foot of the silo and crouch-jump onto it. Make sure that the Warthog is at the Wraith-side of the silo before attempting the crouch-jump.

You can either kill the Combat Form, making it drop the skull, or, you can shoot off it's right arm. You may either kill it whilst it is still on the first roof or try to shoot it while it is in midair. The skull will fall to the ground between the two buildings.

#To the left is the bowl with two roads cut into the rock face. Go to the right and drive directly ahead until you hit the rock wall.
#When you get underneath the platform structure, you will notice some climbable rocks on the right that will lead you to the platform itself. You will notice several beam-like supports alongside the platform. Go to the very last one, at the end of the platform. If you jump up you can see the skull at the end. Align yourself right up to the support. You need to get to the crevice of it, sticking out and away from the platform; the skull can be seen in it. There are several methods to obtain this skull:
##Method A: Stick a Plasma Grenade right where the beam-like support and incline meet (on the bottom edge of the incline). Back up, run and jump, aiming a little higher than the skull. You should be just over and a little forward of the grenade when it explodes giving you enough of a boost to reach the skull.
##Method B: Pick up a Deployable Cover and place it in front of the pillar with the skull and use it as a step to the ledge. It may take a few tries to place it exactly at the perfect spot, as it may slide off and fall off the ledge.
##Method C: Play the game in Co-Op mode. Stand on your friend's head and have them run and jump towards the skull. At the highest point of their jump, jump over to the ledge. If performed correctly, you should land on the platform.
##Method D: Deploy a Bubble Shield so that the edge of it is near the edge of the structure. The Bubble Shield should keep the grenade you throw inside it so right after you throw, jump, and the grenade should give you a sufficient boost.
##Method E: Take a Brute Shot, and aim it downward but still on the building Take a leap, and as you jump, fire downward and you will be able to launch yourself to the skull.
##Method F: If you saved the Rocket Launcher from the downed Pelican, you can rocket jump by positioning yourself a suitable running distance from the platform with the skull, running at it backward, jumping as you reach the slanted floor and firing a rocket. The blast should be sufficient to propel you to the platform. It may take a few tries to get it without killing yourself, and is inadvisable on any difficulty other than Normal for this reason.
##Method G: Find a few Ghosts, and use the boulder and a boost+A-button combo to get them onto the platform. Then stack them near the spot with the skull and you should be able to jump from on top of them to the skull.
##Method H: On the way back through this canyon, after getting the Scorpions from the Forward Unto Dawn, as you pass under the arch and blow up the Phantom, there is a wall to the left of the part where the canyon narrows that you can drive a tank up. If you drive one up, then wedge it in the area where the Forerunner structure comes closest to the cliff you're on, you can take a second tank up the cliff, and drive it across the bridge made from the first one, onto the Forerunner structure, then, with some careful positioning, use its turret as a platform to jump to the skull

#The skull is at the top of the large circular room where Cortana says "It was the coin's fault! I wanted to make you strong, keep you safe (drop in tone). I'm sorry, I can't..." When you enter this room you will fall out of a hole in the ceiling, next to a sitting, dead Elite. To the left of the room will be some small, somewhat fungal, growths on the walls. Near this is a rounded pillar.
# Where the Warden Eternal appears, simply walk towards the Guardian.
#Stand on the pillar and jump to the thin growth outcrops to the left. On many of them, you will hit your head on an obstruction above if you are not careful; spoiling the jump. After the first two to the left, turn around and look away from the rock wall - then left ninety degrees for another one with a longish extrusion of Flood material.
# Fall onto a ledge with a bunch of debris pointing towards the ocean.
#This one is difficult as your head will hit the wall with jumps from many of the obvious positions. One jump that works is at the tip of this jump, back about 2 feet from the edge, and jumping slightly left (approx one foot) of the tip of the target jump. Another jump that works is; When you get on the the upper outcrop on the left, facing the other outcrop you are jumping to, move as far as you can to the left. Then, jump toward the other outcrop with the extension of flood material. Walk up the extruded Flood tentacle onto the roof of the area where you will find the Skull in a small pile of blood and bones. Note that underneath the platform you usually walk on are two to three Deployable Covers near the Terminal with Cortana's message. These can be placed on the pillar and the ledge to make the jumps easier and help you avoid things that can cause your jumps to fail.
# Walk to the part close to the ocean, and you will find the skull there, buried partially into the ground.
#* Getting out without dying may require jumping off, immediately turning right, activating Smart-Link, and clambering back onto the platform.

#Method A: On your way to the barracks, you will come across a section in the level where you are required to drop down into a shaft, and at the bottom, are several pipe entrances, where Drones fly in and out of. Reaching the bottom will initiate a Cortana Moment.
#If you walk to the end of the corridor, there is another large drop (purple pipe with a rotating fan), but do not jump down. Instead, look down around the drop and you will notice a small ledge protruding out a little bit with a green arrow just visible in the middle of it. If you approach the edge very slowly and walk backwards very quickly as soon as you fall, you will land on the ledge. The skull will be located at the end of the passage.
#Method B: After the battle with the Chieftain and Brutes, grab a grav lift. Continue on until you are in the shaft with the drones. Walk down the corridor and go down the large drop. Turn around and throw the grav lift. Go through it and then you'll enter the passage with the skull at the end of it.

Directions:
Directions:
#You must start this level from the beginning; starting from any other point will cause the skull to not appear. After defeating the Scarab, take a Gravity Lift from the small structure in the center (to the right of the entrance up the large slope), then continue on until you pass the room with a lot of explosive Plasma Batteries. In the hallway after this room, there is a tall section with openings above the turning point of the hall, and the skull is in the top one of the highest of these. There are several methods to obtain this skull:
# Method A: Go behind the Gamma Core to a Forerunner door, climb the chunks of snow that are on the right of it and walk all the way towards the crashed Pelican, then to the left you'll see some blocks of ice in them, and the Tough Luck skull. Make sure to jump, aim, boost forward, and clamber.
##Method A: Use the Grav Lift to get there. The ideal place to deploy it is about three fourths of the way down the ramp, and a little to the left of the center, while facing up-ramp (facing up-ramp will ensure the Grav Lift doesn't slip farther down). Run down the ramp and jump, such that you reach the peak of your jump while directly over the Grav Lift. You should also be running towards the tall section, aiming towards the middle of the top shelf on the section. If your Grav Lift expires or is destroyed, you can always revert to last save since the room containing the skull is a checkpoint. If you have difficulty getting there, crouch while being Grav-Lifted. This may take a few tries.
#* It is recommended to obtain the Vorpal Talon in front of and above the Alpha Core as it provides extra mobility (longer stabilizer duration, higher jump height, and an additional thruster pack use between cooldowns), which will prove useful for obtaining the skull through this method. These benefits become even more pronounced when playing as Olympia Vale due to her base attributes giving her higher jump height and movement speed.
##Method B: If you are having too much trouble placing the Grav Lift, it is possible to drive a Brute Chopper into the building. You can then drive the Chopper to the bottom of the ramp, jump onto it, and deploy the Grav Lift, which will go through the vehicle. You should be elevated to the opening with the skull.
# Method B: On the Alpha Core, next to the Mantis is another path which you can go through so you can reach the crashed Pelican, jump onto the snowy ledge holding the skull, and claim the skull.
##Method C: If you are playing on Co-Op, have two of the players grab a Grav Lift. One (Person A) should drop their Grav Lift before the platforms, use it to go up to the fourth level (one below the skull), and wait for their partner (Person B) to join them. Person B should stand right on the edge of that platform and deploy their Grav Lift while facing straight down. If Person A placed the first one right, then the two Grav Lifts should line up, with one hovering above the other. Person A should then walk backwards off the edge and onto the Grav Lift(s). A will end up being suspended above the platform with the skull, at which point they should just keep holding the left thumbstick forward until they move onto the platform. If they can't move forward, they should keep pushing forward anyway, because when the lower Grav Lift breaks, they will drop onto the platform.
#* Either method requires you to watch out for enemy Covenant forces nearby, including two Shade Turrets.
##Method D: If you managed to pass through the previous room without setting off any of the plasma batteries, push one down to the edge of the openings, detonate it with a plasma grenade or a brute shot, and explosive jump to the top opening.

This article is about the gameplay modifiers in Halo 5: Guardians. For other uses, see Skull.
All the skulls featured in Halo 5: Guardians.

Halo 5: Guardians skulls are game modifiers featured in Halo 5: Guardians with the appearance of a human skull. The skulls are the same from Halo: Reach and Halo 4. Just like in previous installments like Halo 3 and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, skulls are collectibles that the player will be awarded with achievements for finding the first of them and all of them, and can also be accessed in the campaign menu after claiming them in the levels in which they're found.[1]

A third, time-limited difficulty of Warzone Firefight, Mythic Warzone Firefight, is the same as Legendary Warzone Firefight except that it adds difficulty skulls, with more being added in every successive round. The scoring factor is 150% that of Heroic Warzone Firefight's.

Campaign skulls[edit]

Score Attack reference[edit]

Unlike previous games, the skull score multipliers in Halo 5: Guardians are added onto each other. The maximum score multiplier from skulls alone is 19.5×; on Legendary difficulty, this multiplier is raised by 300% to 78×, meaning that killing a Warden Eternal with a power weapon will result in the player scoring 1,606,800 points (78×(20,000+600)).

Skull Name Multiplier Short Description
Iron Death on Co-op = Revert to last checkpoint. Death on Solo = Restart mission.
Black Eye 1.5× No auto-shield regeneration and Overshields. Only melee attacks cause shields to recharge.
Tough Luck 1.5× Grenades, Needler fire, projectiles (ie. Rocket Launcher, Fuel Rod Cannon), and vehicular charges are evaded more skillfully by the AI. Enemies go Berserk more often, and Grunts will run away for a shorter period of time, turn around, and attack again the players.
Catch 1.5× NPCs throw many more grenades at an alarming rate. NPCs always drop two grenades upon death.
Fog 1.5× Motion Tracker is fully disabled.
Blind 2.5× The entire heads-up display, first person arms, and first person weapon(s) are completely hidden.
Famine Dropped weapons have much less ammunition/charge.
Thunderstorm 1.5× Many enemies are promoted to higher ranks. (More experience)
Tilt Enemy and player defensive resistances/weaknesses are amplified.
Mythic 2.5× All NPC health allocation is doubled.

IWHBYD (I Would Have Been Your Daddy)[edit]

The IWHBYD skull in the mission Osiris.
The ledge with the IWHBYD skull ready to be picked by the player.
Rare combat dialogue becomes more common.

Level: Osiris

Icon: A skull marked with a double helix.

Effect: Rare dialogue is more common, and vice versa.

Directions:

  1. Go to the very first Forerunner door on the level before using the Artemis Tracking System for the first time.
  2. Look to the left towards a ledge and clamber onto it.
  3. Look towards the air battle, and there will be a triangular ledge on which the skull lies.

Black Eye[edit]

The Black Eye skull, resting on a pipe.
Shields don't recharge unless you melee enemies.

Level: Blue Team

Icon: A skull marked with a smaller skull with a bruise under one eye.

Effect: Your energy shields will not recharge until you perform a melee hit on an enemy. The following actions will also restore your energy shields:

Just like in Halo 4, the low shield warning beep and shield down sound effects are removed except in Mythic Warzone Firefight. In addition, unlike in Halo 2, Overshields are completely nullified, and any revived characters, along with their revivers, will have only health and no shields if their shields have been wiped out. Health will not be immediately restored after reviving a teammate either, making reviving more dangerous in combat situations. AI-controlled teammates can still recharge their shields, however. In addition, the following missions feature scripted events that recharge players' shields regardless:

  • Unconfirmed - at the beginning of the boss fight against the Warden Eternal.
  • Evacuation - the ending of the level where the player must run to the Pelican while the Guardian starts generating pulse blasts.
  • Battle of Sunaion - towards the end of the level, where a Guardian rises and causes a Phantom to almost crash on the Spartans of Fireteam Osiris. This can be missed if the player's shields are completely down.
  • Genesis - during the run down the Guardian, when it conjures pulse blasts. These scripted events can be missed, however.
  • Guardians - there are multiple scripted shield recharge sequences: one of which occurs near the beginning when a Guardian throws a pulse blast and vanishes into a slipspace portal; and several more at the end of the level where Osiris must reach and destroy the relay to free Blue Team from Cortana's Cryptum while being attacked by a Guardian.

Point Multiplier: 1.5×

Directions:

  1. In the reactor room, go to the far left of the reactor, where there are a few ammo boxes and a pipe, clamber onto the pipe.
  2. Walk all the way to the end of the pipe, which will lead you to a small, dark room. Be careful of Covenant forces from below and to the right, though, especially on Heroic or Legendary.
  3. On the floor there should be a breakable piece of ground. Ground Pound onto it, and that should make you fall to another room.
  4. Once inside, go towards the left, there should be a small pipe with the skull resting on it for you to pick up.

Iron[edit]

Solo: Restart mission on death.
Co-op: Spawn at last checkpoint on death.

Level: Glassed

Icon: A skull marked with a hammer.

Effect: If you die while playing solo, you will respawn at the very beginning of the level. If any player dies while playing Co-op, all players will respawn to the last checkpoint. This is similar to what would happen when playing Co-op on Legendary in Halo 2, but it is slightly harsher on the players. In addition, the abilities to save from last checkpoint and manually revert to last checkpoint are disabled.

Point Multiplier: 3×

Directions:

  1. Play through the mission on Legendary difficulty until you reach the part where Sloan suggests Fireteam Osiris to obtain a Corp Scorpion on the way to Meridian Station.
  2. After you gain access to the Corp Scorpion and go through some arched rocks, you may see a cargo ship flying and being pursued by a Phaeton.
  3. Shoot at the Phaeton until you destroy it.
    • An alternate strategy is to obtain an Spartan Laser and have another Spartan drive the Scorpion. As the Spartan Laser has hitscan properties, unlike the Scorpion's weapons, using it to destroy the Phaeton is much easier.
  4. When you destroy the Phaeton, you will hear the Grunt Birthday Party sound effect which means the skull will appear in one of three places, shown in the video above.

Blind[edit]

The cave where the Blind skull is hidden.
The HUD and the first person arms and weapon are hidden.

Level: Unconfirmed

Icon: An eye with the pupil crossed out.

Effect: Your entire Heads-Up Display is disabled. You can't see your weapon, first person arms, shield and health meters, motion tracker, or ammo/grenades. However, you can still see the sprint aiming reticle, your character's first-person legs, radio/COM tags from other characters, and the boost gauge when riding a Covenant vehicle. Your character's first-person arms will still be briefly visible in certain sequences, such as interacting with a piece of Mission Intel while playing as a member of Fireteam Osiris.

Point Multiplier: 2.5×

Directions:

  1. After entering the underground facility, you'll find a forklift which you have to climb.
  2. Climb a box that's next to the wall and look behind you where there is a cat walk.
  3. Climb said cat walk and go to the end of it.
  4. At the end, you will find a small cave where you need to crouch. Just walk inside.
  5. You will find the skull sitting in there.

Thunderstorm[edit]

The Thunderstorm skull in the mission Evacuation.
The Thunderstorm skull, with the top exposed so the player can denote its position.
Major upgrade to the capabilities of enemies.

Level: Evacuation

Icon: A skull marked with a lightning bolt.

Effect: All enemies and allies are promoted to the highest available rank:

Specialist-type enemies (e.g. Grunt Imperial), Rangers, Armiger Soldiers, and Promethean Knights are unaffected.

Point Multiplier: 1.5×

Directions: For you to get the skulls you need to destroy five cones in under two minutes.

  1. The first of the cones is located close to the door where the level Glassed ends; after you go through it, you have to go the left where a rock ledge and a metal stairway are, you'll find the first cone next to boxes with a blanket on them.
  2. Second cone is before you go inside the tunnel where Governor Sloan says "This is Governor Sloan broadcasting on all frequencies. People, if you are still planetside, make your way to the space elevator right now. Final shuttles are departing with or without you." There, you will find, to the right next to a set of stairs, the second cone for you to destroy.
  3. Third is where the Prometheans destroy the bridge; next to a destroyed Warthog, you will find the third cone.
  4. Fourth will be around the section with a yellow pillar and a few boxes.
  5. Fifth and final cone will be next to a destroyed cargo ship and a red box covered with a blanket.
  6. Once you have destroyed the cones, you must go to almost the end of the level where the Guardian begins throwing pulses. There, you will find the skull partially submerged into the ground, but with its top exposed for you to see. On co-op, it is slightly easier to pick up the skull and still complete the level without the Guardian throwing the final pulse that instantly kills the players, as one player can pick up the skull and the others reach the Pelican.

Grunt Birthday Party[edit]

An Unggoy Imperial holding the Grunt Birthday Party skull in the mission Reunion.
An Imperial Grunt holding the Grunt Birthday Party skull.
Headshot a Grunt - HAPPY BOOM TIME!

Level: Reunion

Icon: A skull marked with a candle.

Effect: If a Grunt is shot in the head with any headshot-capable weapon, a popping sound is heard, colorful confetti explodes out of it, and a sound clip of children cheering Hooray from the game Viva Piñata can be heard in the background. When the Grunt's head explodes, their backpack also usually explodes. The following weapons can trigger this effect:

Directions:

  1. In the section of the mission on a cliff where there is a small group of Covenant forces examining a crashed Phantom, simply walk towards the right and go inside the tunnel.
  2. After coming out of it, you will see a small Forerunner platform holding some Covenant boxes, a Covenant weapons rack with two Plasma Grenades and two Carbines, and even an Energy Sword. Walk left and see a Grunt (can be any type except the Ranger) singing and holding the skull.
  3. Walk behind the Grunt, and it will say "[Action Button] Punt" for you to kick the Grunt off the ledge. The skull will then appear in front of you, on the platform. Crouch to pick it up.

Fog[edit]

The Fog skull in the mission Reunion.
The Fog skull as it rests on the platform.
Motion sensor is disabled.

Level : Reunion

Icon: A skull marked with a swirl of fog.

Effect: Your motion tracker is disabled completely.

Point Multiplier: 1.5×

Directions:

  1. When Cortana says "The Gateway to the Forerunner Domain. You'll be the first organics to enter since the fall of the Forerunners. I admit, after the crash here, I didn't think I'd see you again.", simply walk right where you can see a low-detailed, static Guardian in the sky.
  2. Walk towards a Forerunner structure similar to a Beacon tower.
  3. Go all the way through the path on it.
  4. At the end of it you will find the skull there for you to claim.

Mythic[edit]

The Mythic skull, located on a platform.
Enemies have increased health.

Level: Swords of Sanghelios

Icon: A skull marked with a circle with a smaller circle in it.

Effect: All vehicles and NPCs have twice the amount of health and shields.

Point Multiplier: 2.5×

Directions:

  1. After you get out of the Sangheilli temple and you see the chapter name "Hornet's Nest", you will see some dropships flying by.
  2. Look backwards and look towards a collapsed column and begin to climb it.
  3. Once you're on the top of it. look to the right where you will see a small ceiling. You will now have to jump to reach it.

Note: You might have to do some trick jumping such as sprinting-jump-aiming-thrust forward-clamber. Being equipped with an Energy Sword is helpful, even more so if you are playing as Olympia Vale in co-op, who can jump higher and move faster than her other allies.

Catch[edit]

The Catch skull, located in an alcove inside the Kraken.
Enemies are grenade happy!

Level: Enemy Lines

Icon: A skull marked with an image of a Plasma Grenade.

Effect: All AI-controlled units throw grenades more often, where applicable. It should be noted that characters will throw an unlimited amount of grenades at their enemies. The skull actually does seem to increase the number of Suicide Grunts.

Point Multiplier: 1.5×

Directions:

  1. Once you've gained access to the Phaetons, land on the left platform of the Kraken and go through the entrance there.
  2. Once you see a small ledge that sometimes has Jackal Snipers, turn left.
  3. Board one of the Banshees in the hangar that you will find there, and fly it to an alcove that is somewhat hidden in the ceiling on the left.
  4. Once in there, you will simply find the skull on the left of it, in a corner.

Cowbell[edit]

The Cowbell skull, partially buried into a ledge behind and below where the Warden Eternal spawns.
Acceleration from explosions is increased. We need more!

Level: Battle of Sunaion

Icon: A skull marked with a cowbell.

Effect: Physics impulses are increased. Explosions and melee attacks launch characters and objects farther, but the damage is not affected.

Directions:

  1. Where the Warden Eternal appears, simply walk towards the Guardian.
  2. Fall onto a ledge with a bunch of debris pointing towards the ocean.
  3. Walk to the part close to the ocean, and you will find the skull there, buried partially into the ground.
    • Getting out without dying may require jumping off, immediately turning right, activating Smart-Link, and clambering back onto the platform.

Tilt[edit]

The Tilt skull on the top of the hill.
Enemy resistances and weaknesses are increased.

Level: Genesis

Icon: A skull marked with a smaller skull with a hole in its head.

Effect: All enemy weaknesses and resistances double, resulting in Covenant weapons dealing more damage to shields but less to health, while UNSC and Forerunner weapons do less damage to shields but remarkably more to health. A Spartan doing a melee attack on another full-shield, full-health Spartan will no longer immediately drain their shields. These also apply to the players.

Point Multiplier: 2×

Directions:

  1. After defeating the first Warden Eternal and reaching the end of the Scorpion run, go to the hill on the right and reach the tallest of them.
  2. Climb it all the way to the top.
  3. The skull will be there waiting on the edge of the hill.

Famine[edit]

The Famine skull in the mission The Breaking.
The Famine skull.
Weapons drop much less ammo.

Level: The Breaking

Icon: A skull marked with a smaller skull. The smaller skull seems to have a line between it and some dots (food). This describes the obvious traits of a famine: without teeth.

Effect: All weapons that are dropped by enemies or are scripted to spawn on the ground (e.g. near a crashed Pelican or group of dead bodies) have halved or reduced ammunition or charge. This also affects many special weapons (e.g. Open Hand). However, weapons found in cases still have the standard amount of ammo.

Point Multiplier: 2×

Directions:

  1. After Cortana intervenes in the Warden's attack, simply go into the structure and enter the small curved corridor sitting behind a smaller alcove with a Forerunner console. Watch out for Armiger Snipers with Binary Rifles and Armiger Officers with Splinter Turrets, though.
  2. In the middle of the corridor is a small structure on which the skull lays. It sits inbetween and in front of two weapons caches.

Tough Luck[edit]

The Tough Luck skull.
Enemies always go berserk, always dive out of the way, never flee.

Level: Guardians

Icon: A skull marked with a three-leafed clover.

Effect: Enemies dodge grenades, needles, slow moving projectiles, and vehicle assaults with a greater success rate. In addition, enemies go berserk more often, and Grunts run away for a shorter period of time before turning around and again attacking the players.

Point Multiplier: 1.5×

Directions:

  1. Method A: Go behind the Gamma Core to a Forerunner door, climb the chunks of snow that are on the right of it and walk all the way towards the crashed Pelican, then to the left you'll see some blocks of ice in them, and the Tough Luck skull. Make sure to jump, aim, boost forward, and clamber.
    • It is recommended to obtain the Vorpal Talon in front of and above the Alpha Core as it provides extra mobility (longer stabilizer duration, higher jump height, and an additional thruster pack use between cooldowns), which will prove useful for obtaining the skull through this method. These benefits become even more pronounced when playing as Olympia Vale due to her base attributes giving her higher jump height and movement speed.
  2. Method B: On the Alpha Core, next to the Mantis is another path which you can go through so you can reach the crashed Pelican, jump onto the snowy ledge holding the skull, and claim the skull.
    • Either method requires you to watch out for enemy Covenant forces nearby, including two Shade Turrets.

Trivia[edit]

  • Until one of Halo 5: Guardians's updates, you could not revive teammates nor be revived when the Iron skull was turned on.
