It confers the user with a brief period of invulnerability. This period lasts about 10 seconds. When activated the player is covered in shining white bands. It is known to be possessed by some or all Brute Chieftains in Halo 3, giving chieftains a brief period of time where they may chase after the player with the Gravity Hammer unhindered, giving them a significant tactical advantage. In campaign, it can be found on some dead Brute Chieftains that haven't used a power-up yet. Curiously, if you melee a Brute in the back (assassination hit) while the invincibility is active, it will still kill him. In addition to being obtainable from dead Brute Chieftains, there is an Invincibility in the level "Halo". At the top of the Control Room tower, where you have to fight hordes of Flood, there is an Invincibility. After going up the staircase, go to the left and into the tunnel. It will be there. Note: This is only found on difficulties Easy, Normal and Heroic. It cannot be found there on Legendary.

It has a similar appearance to the Cloaking equipment, except that it glows a gold color, rather than a cool blue color. It's symbol on the HUD is Two overlapping, intersecting ovals.

The behaviour exhibited by Chieftains in ODST tends to make them overly defensive with their equipment, and they will activate it as soon as they are attacked by a heavy weapon.

It is not present in multiplayer, unless you edit gameplay options where you can make players invincible. NOTE: The guardians can still kill you.
Although invulnerable to most forms of damage, Brutes with invincibility activated can still be assassinated or splattered. If the player in Halo 3 has invincibility and makes an NPC Arbiter an enemy, he will still be able to kill the player in one hit.

In campaign, though you will be invulnerable from almost all forms of attack, you may still die from falling or having a large object such as a Scorpion crush you, or by having tons of Infection forms infect you. Immortal characters like the Arbiter who become betrayed by you can also kill you.
In Halo 3: ODST, Invincibility makes Chieftains glow an aquamarine color, instead of the original white. This is because Brute's armor glows white when shot in Halo 3: ODST, so Bungie changed the color, so players could clearly see when a Chieftain activated invincibility.

Trivia
*A player is able to take a Brute Chieftain's Invincibility if they assassinate, head shot, or in some way kill the Chieftain before it can activate it.
*The only way to kill an invincible Chieftain or player is to assassinate them, or to wait for the Invincibilty to wear off.

Disadvantages
*If you are trying to kill the Brute Chieftain who is using invincibility grenades will just bounce off him unless you stick his weapon.
*Players or Brutes who are invincible can still be killed by being assassinated, crushed or falling from a large height.

Invincibility modules are a defensive equipment piece developed by the Covenant for use by infantry forces.[1]

Overview[edit]

Design details[edit]

Invincibility generators consist of a small, handheld generator interspersed with golden lights, similar in form to the cloaking module. When activated, they provide an extremely strong energy shielding layer to the wielder, which makes them near-invulnerable to damage for a period of around ten seconds. The United Nations Space Command have been able to determine that the source of the protection offered by the module stems from a latent energy field, though to-date have had little success in reverse-engineering it.[1]

Usage[edit]

Invincibility modules were developed by the Covenant, and prominently-used by Jiralhanae Chieftains during the Human-Covenant War.[1]

In-game information[edit]

Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST[edit]

Invincibility appears as a piece of deployable equipment in Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST. In both games, the equipment can near-exclusively be found in the hands of gravity hammer-wielding Jiralhanae Chieftains. When engaging the Chieftains, should they take too much damage they will activate the equipment and become temporarily invulnerable to nearly-all forms of damage. In Halo 3, if they can be killed quickly, they will drop the module and leave it open for a player to pick up; this function is removed in ODST alongside all player equipment use. The behaviour exhibited by Chieftains in ODST tends to make them overly defensive with their equipment, and they will activate it as soon as they are attacked by a heavy weapon.

Although invulnerable to most forms of damage, Brutes with invincibility activated can still be assassinated or splattered. If the player in Halo 3 has invincibility and makes an NPC Arbiter an enemy, he will still be able to kill the player in one hit.

In Halo 3: ODST, Invincibility makes Chieftains glow an aquamarine color, instead of the original white. This is because Brute's armor glows white when shot in Halo 3: ODST, so Bungie changed the color, so players could clearly see when a Chieftain activated invincibility.

Trivia[edit]

The image used for the Invincibility's activated state in the Halo Encyclopedia (2009 edition) and its 2011 reprint is in fact a screenshot of an early revision of the Z-4190 bubble shield from the Halo 3 Beta.[1]
