==Overview and design==
==Overview==
Sporting a far more Sangheili-derived design, the T-58 anti-air Wraith features heavy armor, fuel rod flak cannons, and a shielded plasma repeater turret. On some units, members of the Swords of Sanghelios have incorporated a verdant iridescent sheen into the coloration; a poignant homage commissioned by [[Thel 'Vadam]] to honor the Sangheili that fought alongside human forces at the close of the [[Human-Covenant War]].

The Muv'te-pattern Skyhunter[1] (UNSC Type classification: Type-58 Anti-Aircraft Artillery, T-58 AAA)[3] is a Skyhunter variant of the Wraith line of armoured vehicles in service with the Swords of Sanghelios and Jul 'Mdama's Covenant.[2]

Overview[edit]

Design details[edit]

The Muv'te-pattern skyhunters are built by Lodam Armory upon the chassis of the base Kemu-pattern Wraith - incorporating a visual design more in line with Sangheili aesthetic tastes. The hull itself is reinforced with heavier nanolaminate armour plating, with some units commissioned by Thel 'Vadam incorporating a green iridescent sheen to pay homage to the human forces the early separatist movement fought alongside during the outbreak of the Great Schism.[2]

As with the Ogab'd-pattern anti-aircraft Wraith - the Covenant-era counterpart to the more modern Muv'te - weapon-smiths are required to incorporate stringent failsafes into the vehicle's design to ensure that they are destroyed should the vehicle operator be killed. This is done to prevent the vehicle and it's destructive potential from falling into enemy hands.[1]

Armaments[edit]

The Muv'te-pattern skyhunter is equipped with twin rapid-fire fuel rod cannons mounted in a turret atop the central chassis, replacing the plasma mortar present in the standard Kemu-pattern Wraith line.[2][1] This is a considerable downgrade from the six launchers present on the older Ogab'd models, though the cannons themselves display increased tracking capabilities against aircraft.[4]

For defensive purposes, the Wraith has a secondary cupola for a gunner to operate a plasma repeater turret for firing upon advancing infantry forces. The turret, in an upgrade from most regular Wraiths, is fitted with a small energy shield protecting the gunner from fire from the front and sides.[2][1]

Usage[edit]

The Muv'te-pattern skyhunter was used by both predominant forces in the Blooding Years - the Sangheili civil war between the Swords of Sanghelios and remnant faction led by Jul 'Mdama following the collapse of the Covenant empire.[2] The vehicle has seen use in United Nations Space Command training War Games simulations[4], and was assigned a designation within the Office of Naval Intelligence's type classification system of Type-58, denoting its cataloguing in 2558.[3]

Unlike their counterparts, the Banished have by-and-large elected not to employ the use of anti-aircraft Wraiths - instead preferring the use of the Dovotaa Workshop Reaver for mobile air defence purposes.[5]

In-game information[edit]

Halo 5: Guardians[edit]

"The skyhunters of the Swords of Sanghelios and Covenant unleash a fusillade of flak bolts to clear the battlefield of enemy aircraft. Superior Wraith with heavy armor, fuel rod flak cannons, and shielded plasma repeater turret."
— AA Wraith REQ card description

The Muv'te-pattern AA Wraith was introduced into Halo 5: Guardians in the Monitor's Bounty update.[2] The vehicle can be used in multiplayer and Forge, and in Warzone is useable as a REQ card with the following attributes;

REQ information
Category Vehicle
Rarity Rare
Energy cost 5 energy

Unlike its predecessor, the Muv'te's fuel rods have a stronger home in on aircraft within the crosshair, but the firepower has been reduced; The cannons also overheat from excessive use, making it somewhat less effective against ground forces. In multiplayer, it takes 4 fuel rods to kill a Spartan. Similarly, the AA Wraith's plasma repeater turret also kills Spartans in 4 shots.
