- "Left hand of Endurance-of-Will, the Didact's loyal lieutenant. Improved Boltshot with an extended magazine and faster rate of fire."
- — In-game description[4]
The Closed Fist is a special variant of the Z-110 Directed Energy Pistol/Exotic. Its appearance is identical to that of a standard Boltshot, albeit with the addition of orange stripes flowing through the weapon's main housing, particularly at the top and bottom areas.[5]
Background[edit]
The Closed Fist is a named variant of the Z-110 DEP/E, which is depicted with a 50% larger ammo capacity over standard Boltshots and a faster rate of fire. It is noted for being the left hand of Endurance-of-Will, a Promethean Knight who served as the Ur-Didact's loyal lieutenant.[4][1] She carried it, alongside the Open Hand on her right hand, in the final years prior to the firing of the Halo Array.[1]
In late 2558, both the Closed Fist and Open Hand were later integrated into War Games simulations for use by Spartan-IVs aboard the UNSC Infinity via a method that remains a closely guarded secret among Office of Naval Intelligence personnel.[5][1]
Gameplay[edit]
Halo 5: Guardians[edit]
The Closed Fist is depicted as an Uncommon Level 2 REQ that grants 75 REQ Points when sold. Its operation is exactly the same as that of a normal Boltshot except that it now fires more quickly, has a 50% larger magazine size, and can carry up to 216 total rounds (72 trigger pulls). These improvements make the Closed Fist a stronger version of the Boltshot that allows it to compete with loadout weapons like the Battle Rifle and DMR, especially with its high round count per magazine that gives its users more time to take down enemies more quickly than with a Battle Rifle or normal Boltshot. In addition, the Closed Fist can be used to deal with enemies in vehicles like Ghosts, Warthogs, and Mongooses.
As with every Boltshot model, Spartans can use thruster evades to avoid the Closed Fist's tracking rounds.
Changes from the Z-110 Directed Energy Pistol/Exotic[edit]
- 50% larger magazine size (24 → 36).
- Increased maximum spare ammo count (72 → 180).
- Faster rate of fire.
- Main light on the weapon does not turn off when the weapon is used with Smart-Link.
