The Star Charter-class colony support ship is a medium cargo transport used by the UNSC since at least 2431.[2]
Overview
Design details
Star Charters are small colony ships, often employed to support colonial settlement and terraforming alongside a larger ship such as a Phoenix-class colony ship. They are often deployed attached underslung to Phoenix-class ships or deployed attached to Brumal-class masts. Upon reaching their destination, they are landed on the planetary surface for use as subsidence hubs - offering protection from the elements and shelter for the settlers.[2]

Operational history
Four such vessels were used to colonize Meridian in 2431, deployed from the mast Meridian 5. These four ships landed on the continent of Turones to establish cities on the moon's surface.[2] In 2548, a handful of the ships were sent to the other side of Hestia V to escape the Covenant during their first assault, and were recalled when the Liang Dortmund Corporation recolonized the planet after the war. One of the ships was even used to power the mining town Meridian Station, but was left in a heavily damaged state after a Guardian awakening.[1]
Following the Guardian event, Liang-Dortmund transferred one of its Star Charter-class ships to oversee Darkstar Station.[3][4]
