The Asźod ship breaking yards were a series of expansive industrial facilities on the human colony world of Reach at Asźod. Hundreds of UNSC starships at the end of their operational life were taken apart in the facilities to be repurposed for spare parts and materials, and the surrounding landscape was littered with wrecks of spacecraft. Among them was the UNSC Commonwealth, which was being disassembled in a section of the facility that was under control of SinoViet Heavy Machinery.
During the Battle of Asźod, in the final hours of the Fall of Reach on August 30, 2552, the ship-breaking yards became the final off-planet extraction point on the Eposz continent.[1] As part of this, the UNSC Pillar of Autumn performed a Class-L flash-dock, landing near the ship breaking yards for repairs and to receive an important package while the yards themselves were overrun with Covenant forces. Members of NOBLE Team rendezvoused with forces from the Pillar of Autumn here. A Covenant Ket-pattern battlecruiser was shot down during the battle by SPARTAN-B312 to protect the Pillar of Autumn's escape.[2]
Production notes[edit]
The yards are the setting of the multiplayer level, Boneyard.
