History[edit]
Post-war[edit]
In late 2557 or early 2558, Rio de Janeiro's population swelled as an increasing number of asylum seekers from the former Covenant emigrated to Earth; Spartan branch fireteam Majestic, minus Gabriel Thorne, was deployed sometime after to maintain order. Later, a Sangheili terrorist attempted to detonate a contraband HAVOK nuclear warhead in the city, but was ultimately stopped by UNSC special operations forces.[1]
