Charybdis IX was a UNSC outer colony world with the capital city Scyllion. It is in the Charybdis System.

It was one of Jacob Keyes' first assignments; there was a brief period of rioting in the 26th century. During the riots, the then "Lieutenant Jr. Grade." Keyes killed his first human being when he was forced to defend himself against an Insurrectionist leader.[1] Soon after, the Covenant arrived at Charybdis IX and destroyed it.[2]

Trivia

  • In Greek mythology, Charybdis was the daughter of Poseidon. Originally a nymph, she was turned into a sea monster by Zeus and took the form of a gigantic whirlpool.
  • Also in mythology, Charybdis sat with the monster Scylla, whom the capital city is named for.
  • Charybdis IX was only defended by three UNSC Destroyers when it was attacked by the Covenant, including the UNSC Destroyer Do You Feel Lucky?.
