Captain is a commissioned officer rank of the UNSC Navy, equal with the rank of Colonel in the UNSC Marine Corps.
Captains typically command a single ship, but may also command a battlegroup or a small fleet if they are the most senior officer present.
Captains are sometimes referred to informally as "Skipper" (as heard in the Halo 1 level, Pillar of Autumn).
