Operational History[edit]
Fall of Reach[edit]
- Main article: Fall of Reach
At one point during the battle for Reach, Bravo 001, flown by an unidentified female pilot, was transporting the SPARTAN-IIs of Red Team to the Asźod ship breaking yards, nicknamed the "boneyard", presumably to renzedvous with the UNSC Pillar of Autumn. Bravo 001 became lost and was aided by a radio operative with the callsign "Golden Arrow". Golden Arrow advised her to land around the nearby woodland, hoping for support against the Covenant - unaware as to the nature of her cargo.[2]
On August 30, Bravo 001 was attached to the Pillar of Autumn and flown by Flight Officer Mitchell. It was assigned to transport the Red Team down to the surface of Reach during the Covenant attack on the orbital defense generators and its aft section was stripped down to accommodate the twenty-seven SPARTANs. It was escorted by a group of Longswords led by Knife 26.
Bravo 001 then came under attack by two formations of Seraphs. Its cockpit explosively decompressed, killing Mitchell. Joshua-029 managed to slow the ship enough for the Spartans to airdrop to the surface without parachutes, though with heavy casualties - four Spartans were killed in the initial jump, including Malcolm-059. Bravo 001 then crashed into the Military Wilderness Training Preserve, breaking into several sections at impact.[3]
