- "We're approaching the LZ, get ready to come out swinging...TOUCH DOWN! Hit it Marines!"
- — Flight Officer Captain Carol Rawley.
A landing zone, consigned LZ, is the military term for any area where aircraft such as dropships are able to land. A landing zone can have many functions, but normally the term is used to describe a combat area where a dropship must land in order for its passengers to disembark or be retrieved such as for emergency evacuation.
