Eayn is the primary natural satellite orbiting the gas giant Chu'ot, the third planet in the Y'Deio system, and the Kig-Yar homeworld.[2]
History
Eayn was the place where the Kig-Yar first evolved, and it was there that the species was returned following the activation of the Halo Array.
During the early history following this reintroduction, Kig-Yar society was largely divided into clans that sailed across Eayn's seas as pirates, raiding the encampments and settlements of rival clans. Eventually Eayan experienced an era defined by gladiatorial combat. The ancient Kig-Yar alive at this time would hold inter-clan physical combat competitions in the largest population centers on Ah'lomet, the moon's largest continent. Eventually, the clans united, and the Kig-Yar species worked together to develop spaceflight. Shortly afterward, they established colonies on many small asteroids and planetoids around Chu'ot. [citation needed]
Topography
Eayn's gravity is about 0.875 G's, making its inhabitants more lightly built than on Earth. Eayn's atmosphere is rather similar to that of Earth, being composed of oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide. Its surface temperatures range from -18°C to 45°C (-0.4°F to 113°F).[1] Eayn features two supercontinents, Ah'lomet and Ruuht, and one isolated continent, Ibie'sh.[3]
Chu'ot lies within the inner region of the system's expansive asteroid belt. The world's surface is characterized by a single large ocean, sparse volcanic activity and an almost total lack of glacification. The vegetation appears similar to that seen in tropical rain forests on Earth. About one third of the Kig-Yar population in the Y'Deio system call the satellite their home. The remaining Kig-Yar have set up colonies within the asteroid belt even before their discovery by the Covenant, which helped defend their system due to the Covenant's difficulties of traversing the dense asteroid field with their rather large ships.[1]

Trivia
- Eayn is a fictional satellite of a real extrasolar planet (HD 69830 d), which was discovered in May of 2006.
- The satellite's light gravity is surprising, considering how swiftly Kig-Yar can move in environments with Earth-standard gravity.
