The Frieden movement was a fascist secessionist faction that arose in humanity's Jovian colonies in the mid-2100's in response to the communist Koslovics and perceived oppression by the United Nations. "Frieden" literally means "peace" in German — in this case, they believed that peace could only be achieved once the "oppressors on Terra Firma" were eliminated.[1]
Background
The Frieden movement surfaced before the formation of the United Earth Government and United Nations Space Command, from rising anti-Koslovic sentiment in the Jovian Moons. The movement was supported by Unified German Republic corporations who were frequent targets of Koslovic "workers' crusades".
The Frieden attacked the UN colonial advisors on Io, sparking the Jovian Moons Campaign, the Rain Forest Wars, and a series of conflicts on Mars, all of which eventually led to the Interplanetary War.[1] Toward the end of the conflicts, the Frieden movement began to splinter among itself, as the reformist Neo-Friedenists proposed peace with the United Nations. This led to a conflict between the reformers and the hardliner Friedenists on Delambre, Luna.[2]
Both the Frieden and the Koslovics were defeated by the UN and formally surrendered during the Callisto Treaty of 2170.[1]
Organizational aims
Judging by the term "secessionist", it is clarified that the Frieden movement's main goal was to separate itself from the United Nations' authority and create an independent state in the Jovian Moons.
