Victor 398 was a UNSC D77H-TCI Pelican dropship that crashed into a mountain gorge on Installation 00 during combat in December 2552. The crash, which the crew barely survived, scattered the Pelican's cargo throughout the valley. V-398's rear hatch was sealed by the surviving crew members. The Pelican was most likely on an ammunition run, due to the several Type-C resupply capsules scattered throughout the area.[1]
In February 2558, Victor 398's crash would be mirrored by that of Spartan Mountain Squad's Pelican. This crash took place in a nearly identical canyon on the shield world Requiem.[2]
Trivia
Victor 398's crash position is the same as that of Victor 933, most likely as a deliberate reference to Halo: Combat Evolved.
