The Babd Catha Ice Shelf was an ice shelf located on the human colony of Reach at Eposz.[1] It was the location of one of several Forerunner artifact sites on the planet. The Office of Naval Intelligence's SWORD Base, which was tasked with the primary purpose of studying an enormous Forerunner vessel embedded in the ice,[2] was located near Babd Catha. The ice shelf was the site of a battle between the UNSC and the Covenant in the early stages of the Fall of Reach on July 26, 2552.
Most of the ice shelf melted when the Covenant glassed the planet.[3]
Trivia
In Irish mythology, Babd Catha was a war goddess who took the form of a crow.
