The Assist medal is awarded for inflicting damage on an enemy who is then killed by a team mate. It is awarded in Firefight in Halo 3: ODST, in campaign, Firefight and multiplayer in Halo: Reach, in multiplayer and Spartan Ops in Halo 4, in all multiplayer modes save Halo 3 in Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and in Warzone in Halo 5: Guardians. The medal is far easier to achieve in 343 Industries games than in Bungie games as the minimum damage requirement for the medal is far lower.
In ODST and Reach it is represented by a red and white Yin and Yang symbol in the center of a 5-pointed gold star. In Halo 4 and The Master Chief Collection the Yin and Yang are imposed on an inverted red and grey pentagon. In Halo 5: Guardians the Yin Yang is larger, and the pentagon is grey only.
Although "assists" were recorded in post-match statistics in earlier games, no specific medal was awarded for the feat. The same holds true for Halo 5: Guardians Arena matches.
