The Assist medal is awarded for inflicting damage on an enemy who is then killed by a team mate. It is awarded in Firefight in Halo 3: ODST, in campaign, Firefight and multiplayer in Halo: Reach, in multiplayer and Spartan Ops in Halo 4 and in Warzone in Halo 5: Guardians. The medal is far easier to achieve in Halo 4 than in previous games as the minimum damage requirement for the medal is far lower.
In ODST and Reach it is represented by a red and white Yin and Yang symbol in the center of a 5-pointed gold star. In Halo 4 the Yin and Yang are imposed on an inverted red and grey pentagon.
Although "assists" were recorded in post-match statistics in earlier games, no specific medal was awarded for the feat.
