Fallback points are usually used only if the mission is unsuccessful or compromised, and the troops are forced to retreat to the fallback point.
The fallback point for SPARTAN-II Blue, Green, and Red Teams on Sigma Octanus IV was a point fifty kilometers south of Côte d'Azur, the teams' operating area. Operatives from the Office of Naval Intelligence had stashed the teams' emergency supplies and SATCOM beacons there.[1]
