"Sam! Sam! Come on, we gotta' get the hell outta' here!"
— A panicked Thom urgently hurries the Chief out of Cryo Two

Chief Petty Officer Thom Shephard was an Engineering Technician for the UNSC aboard the UNSC cruiser UNSC Pillar of Autumn in 2552.[1]

Biography

Thom, along with Tech Officer Samuel Marcus, unsealed Master Chief John-117 from his Cryo-chamber before the Battle of Installation 04. He ran the Chief through several diagnostics and tests for his MJOLNIR Mark V armor. Soon after, Captain Keyes called the Chief to the bridge of the ship as a boarding party of Covenant arrived. A single Sangheili entered the control center of Cryo-B, killing Marcus. Shephard then told the Chief to follow him to the bridge and rushed out the door, where he was killed by a conduit explosion in the wall.[2]

Trivia

  • In the original Halo: Combat Evolved Shephard's appearance will vary slightly from each play through, appearing as generic crewman models. In Anniversary Shephard has his own unique, overweight character model.
  • If the player controls him using Halo: Custom Edition, he will die, no matter what the player does.
