Battlegroup Leviathan was assigned one such ship.[1] The Epoch-class heavy carrier is the heaviest of the UNSC carrier classes, larger than both the Poseidon-class light carrier and the Orion-class carrier in tonnage. Often playing a vital role in UNSC fleets, the heavy carrier is capable of taking extreme damage in combat.[2]

While "heavy carrier" is not a historical ship class, given the ship class's significant tonnage it may be synonymous with "supercarrier," another ship class that, while not a modern formal designation, is used by the UNSC Navy.
