Forums: Index Community Proposal Medal Article Titles

Hello, Halopedia, this is Spartacus bringing forth a proposal about the way we currently title our articles pertaining to Multiplayer medals. If you haven't noticed, we currently title such articles with the word 'medal' in the title, such as Double Kill Medal. My proposal is to remove "medal" from the title.

Why?

Why am I proposing this? Well, I have three main reasons, which I will state below.

  1. Firstly because having the word 'medal' as part of the title is overly redundant. It says in the article that it's a medal, why have it as part of the title when there's no other articles with that title? It's pretty much as redundant as having '(Level)' as part of the title, which we used to do until we realized how redundant (Notice a pattern?) and unneeded it was.
  2. Secondly, changing the titles as per the proposal would make linking to them lot easier. Rather than typing [[Flood Exterminator Medal|Flood Exterminator]], it would be [[Flood Exterminator]].
  3. Thirdly, most of these articles don't even bold the word 'medal' in the introductory sentence. If it's not going to be bolded in the introductory sentence, why even have it in the title? Of course, in the few cases where there are other articles that share the same title, we can always disambiguate them.

Examples

Some examples of changes if the community is in favor of this:

  • Avenger Medal to Avenger
  • Flood Exterminator Medal to Flood Exterminator
  • Untouchable Medal to Untouchable

And etc.

Conclusion

TL;DR, 'medal' in the title is redundant. I propose to remove it from the title.--Spartacus TalkContribs

Comments

This should be a given. Having "Medal" in titles looks awkward and is wholly pointless, especially when there's no need to disambiguate the title most of the time. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 15:41, 15 November 2012 (EST)

Agreed, it's redundant. File:Colonel Grade One.pngCol. Snipes450File:Colonel Grade One.png 16:06, 15 November 2012 (EST)
