The '''VZG7 armored boots''' are standard issue combat boots for [[UNSC Marine Corps|UNSC Marines]], worn as a part of the [[UNSC Marine Corps Battle Dress Uniform|Marine BDU]]. The boot is protective, lightweight, nearly liquid-proof, and is generally comfortable.{{Ref/Reuse|HE}} The VZG7 boots have been in use for most of the [[Human-Covenant War]].

The VZG7 boots appear to be standard lace-up combat boots covered in varying types of armor. Each boot, with armor plating, weighs about 2.25&nbsp;lbs (1&nbsp;kg).<ref name="HE">'''[[Halo Encyclopedia (2009 edition)]]''', ''page 49''</ref> The armor attached to the VZG7 boots covers the upper part of the shin from all sides. The boot itself is covered in lighter armor plating.<ref name="h2">'''[[Halo 2]]'''</ref> 

In the later version, the metallic armor covering the upper shin appears to be separate from the boot, and does not cover the back of the leg. Armored coverings attached by straps are often worn on the boot for greater protection.<ref name="h3">'''[[Halo 3]]'''</ref>

Other varieties of UNSC combat boots often contain more protective armor plating than the standard VZG7 boot. The boots used by Marines stationed on the {{UNSCShip|Spirit of Fire}} in [[2531]] were fully armored, with protective plating covering the whole boot and the shin, while the boots sported by the Marines aboard the {{UNSCShip|Pillar of Autumn}} in 2552 included armor that covered the shin.

The VZG7 boots were first seen being worn by the Marines around [[2552#October|October 2552]], during the start of the [[Battle of Earth]].<ref name="h2"/> The boots, along with their newer versions have been in active use since then.<ref name="h3"/>
