The Long Run is the twenty-second track in Halo: Original Soundtrack.
The Long Run is a musical piece included in the Halo: Original Soundtrack.

Overview
The piece is almost entirely percussive, with a few synth sounds in the background, which seems to resemble the John-117 running. This makes it very similar to Drumrun. It consists of a repetitive drumroll which is designed to underscore the nature of the escape and to make the player feel a sense of urgency.

The soundtrack can be heard:
This song is heard slightly before, and during, the "Rolling Thunder" Section of Assault on the Control Room, when the player rides through the tunnels of Halo in a Scorpion Tank. It also plays at exactly the same point along the backwards journey through the same area in the level, Two Betrayals, in the large room after the blast door which explodes on opening. It is also heard on the level The Silent Cartographer while fighting a group of Stealth Elites.
*In the level The Silent Cartographer, when John-117 has deactivated the security facility of the island, and fights through a group of Stealth Sangheili.
*In the level Assault on the Control Room chapter "Rolling Thunder", when John-117 rides through the tunnels of Installation 04 in a Scorpion.
*In the level 343 Guilty Spark, when John-117 activates the bridge that leads to the last elevator inside the Flood containment facility.
*In the level The Library, when 343 Guilty Spark leaves John-117 at a locked door on the second floor to reset the backup unit for a drone control subsystem.
*In the level Two Betrayals, at exactly the same point along the backwards journey through the same area, in the large room after the blast door which explodes on opening.
*In the level The Maw, when John-117 destroys the last fusion reactor in engineering and runs to the elevator to escape UNSC Pillar of Autumn.

Arrangements
Overview
The track was arranged into Marathon Sprint in Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary: Original Soundtrack.
The piece is almost entirely percussive, with a few synth sounds in the background, which seems to resemble the Master Chief running. This makes it very similar to Drumrun. It also plays during the first part of the Warthog run on the level The Maw (which is probably what the title refers to), and consists of a repetitive drumroll which is designed to underscore the nature of the escape and to make the player feel a sense of urgency.
