:::It was always my interpretation that the Forerunner designations were Installation 01, 02, 03, 04, etc. So Guilty Spark refers to his as Installation 04. The Covenant found out about the rings' existence in their history and (through the deleted scene in Halo 2) even had a map made out where they should be located in the galaxy. The Covenant probably named the first ring they came across (or may have named them all and this was still the first) and humans translated their language for first as "Alpha". They may have designated the Forerunner's 5th ring as their 4th so Installation 05 became Delta Halo.
