Fan Art Sentinel[edit]

I remember seeing a piece of fan art depicting a sentinel from Onyx that the artist based of the text. I know fan art isn't canon in any real sense on most series, but there is precedent on Halopedia to use one. On the Harvest related articles there is a fan art of a cruiser in orbit over Harvest. Is there a way to incorporate this image into the Sentinel article? The only reason I don't post it here is I don't recall where I found the image; I believe it was first posted on the Bungie.net forums. -Lord Hyren 18:54, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Ally note[edit]

With the recent edit to this page regarding Sentinels as allies, I guess I'd bring this up: With the exception of the ones on Onyx, sentinels seem to already be humanity-friendly, as the only times in the games you are attacked by them are when you are an elite and when 343GS tells em' to kill you. Yes, that's almost every time you see them, but still. Yeah, we don't have Marines on any levels with sentinel enemies to prove/disprove this... Unless maybe you pulled something fancy on "Sacred Icon." Check it, I'll sign a comment for the first time:4.245.4.122 02:22, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

H3 Sentinel Picture[edit]

Should we get a picture of a Sentinel from Halo 3? They're shiny!Metaridley 14:30, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

I know this post is old, but shouldn't we replace the infobox-picture with a Sentinel from Halo 3? I personally think this will look much better. Terror 20:46, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

UPDATE: I just added a render of the Aggressor Sentinel from Halo 3, though I would appreciate it if you made sure that the old introductory image is placed within the Gallery section of the article. I worked hard on that, and I want others to still be able to enjoy it. Though I personally see nothing wrong with the current intro image. Sure, it made be from Halo Wars, it may be kinda "dated" chronologically speaking, but there is nothing wrong the graphics. Before you change it, might I suggest you let others have a say in this execution? --Xamikaze330 22:54, 19 November 2011 (EST)Xamikaze330

Sentinel Minor[edit]

should we have a page for the basic silver sentinel? we have one for the sentinel major and with the species of the covenant we have a page for the species and one for each rank.Maiar 12:04, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Also, we need to devide the the article into theire major appearences because trying to summarise them all in one is resulting in inconsistency and convolution. like saying that only sentinel majors and the arks sentinels have shields. infact the only silvers WITHOUT shields are most of halo 2s and thats only beause with them they would render the majors pointless.

Mini-Sentinel?[edit]

I noticed something on the Halo 3 map Isolation. On forge i used a sniper rifle to shoot the sentinels like the ones pictured on the main article for target practice. I also noticed smaller flying things that looked like 1/3 of a sentinel, kinda like C shape with the empty space filled with blue light. They appeared to be moving in a straight line quite fast as opposed to patrolling like the main sentinels. ALso unlike the main sentinels they exploded in only one sniper shot, not two.

What are these things and shouldn't they have thier own article or mention in this one if they're related? Gilgamesh the usurper 03:53, January 8, 2010 (UTC)

Weapon swaping![edit]

I was playing the covanant level and at the end I saw a sentinel that wasn't moving, I went over and the swap ally weapon thing came up so I did it and then I had a sentinel beam and the sentinel shot an infection form with a carbine shot!!! Has this happend before?!? <:o—This unsigned comment was made by [[User:Roberthaha |Roberthaha ]] ([[User talk:Roberthaha |talk]] • [[Special:Contributions/Roberthaha |contribs]]). Yes, in Halo 2 there is an easter egg similar to this, where a Sentinel fired Needler rounds. And sign your posts on disscussion pages. Yonde itadaki arigatōgozaimasu, The Halfblood Prepare, for the Enveloping Darkness 23:02, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

Sentinel in Reach?[edit]

I saw the picture of the sentinel at the top of the page. I could be wrong, but the graphics look like Halo:Reach. I did know there were forerunner structures in Reach because I read it in a preview so it's possible for sentinels to be in the game. But i was surprised the most by the fact there's a screenshot of it! Can someone please post a link if there are more of them?

P.S.: If I'm wrong all along and that's just a Halo3 sentinel, please say so.Toen6 20:53, August 29, 2010 (UTC)

That's Halo Wars artwork I do believe! Elite B 81 21:10, August 29, 2010 (UTC)

Really? It seems a bit to gritty for Halo Wars. And it doesn't look like artwork.

Also I thought if seen every Halo Wars art on the official site at least once and would probably remember it.Toen6 21:16, August 29, 2010 (UTC)

No, that is the Halo 3-era Sentinel. [Sometimes, it's all about the glory.] [Put your boot up enough alien backside and the corps will pin rows of medals on your chest.][Bad ass, unlocked.]
Really? Compare this picture with this one. I see a lot of diffrences: The barrel glows gold instead of not glowing at all. The lights of the first one glow brighter the the second. The second has more curved "arms" and they don't feature the small appendages at the ends of them.Toen6 21:27, August 29, 2010 (UTC)
Nevermind. I've found the actual artist of the picture and it's indeed a Halo Wars concept art. I didn't find it on the official site but on deviant art.Toen6 11:04, September 1, 2010 (UTC)

Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary & Halo 3 Sentinel Images[edit]

Could someone get a really nice transparent cutout image of the a Sentinel both from Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary (once it comes out) and Halo 3? My transparent overview scanned image is from Halo 3, but I know it's not the best quality, considering it's only a scan of a Halo 3 Sentinel. And I imagine my transparent cutout image of the Halo Wars Sentinel won't hold for long, I mean it may not be completely satisfactory for long. So if someone could get on that, that would be nice. I'll try to get on it myself, at least for the Halo 3 Sentinel. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. Xamikaze330 16:35, 28 September 2011 (EDT)Xamikaze330

It's gonna be tough for Anniversary, as there won't be Theater mode to get good screenshots. So we may be better off keeping the Halo 3/Wars picture. Vegerot goes RAWR! Vegerot (talk) 18:15, 28 September 2011 (EDT)
What do you mean there won't be any theater mode for Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary? Didn't it already have theater mode when it first came out ten years ago? I thought it did, then again, I never knew how to do it. If not, maybe 343i might tweak it a little bit to allow for theater mode, at least, I hope that maybe they will. Xamikaze330 18:37, 28 September 2011 (EDT)Xamikaze330

No they didn't have Theater mode for Halo: Combat Evolved! What are you, some kind of n00b?! ( jk :p ). And no, Theater Mode will not be added into Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary[1], because it's a lot more than tweaking involved in making such a big thing like that. It's a full fledged, independent mode. So sorry, but I guess we're gonna have to stick with the current one. Vegerot goes RAWR! Vegerot (talk) 20:43, 1 October 2011 (EDT)!!!

Moving the Content[edit]

From the EVG, on page 167, the Sentinel page:

"The term 'Sentinel' refers to a broad set of machines that are generally used in the construction, maintenance, and protection of Forerunner installations [...]"

Then:

"Designed in a variety of shapes and sies to fit their many functions [...] Aggressors are the most common Sentinel form, usually operating as a direct extension of the Monitor's will."

It seems that the specific form of Sentinel on this article is referring to the "Aggressor". I think we should move most of the content of this page to a page called "Aggressor" and make this article a summary of all of the Sentinels. A relationship similar to SPARTAN Program and the other Spartan pages (ORION Project, SPARTAN-II Program and SPARTAN-III Program). —S331 Bubbleshieldhud.svg(Tank beats Everything!) 11:56, 9 October 2011 (EDT)

Hmm, then I guess Halopedians show their mind through actions. Good job, by the way. —S331 Bubbleshieldhud.svg(Tank beats Everything!) 08:49, 17 October 2011 (EDT)

Sentinel Aggressors in Halo 4?[edit]

Um, just wondering, where and when do the Sentinel Aggressors supposedly show up in Halo 4? 'Cause so far I haven't seen any new information supporting this, uh, claim, or whatever it's called. Any thoughts or information to share? I'm confused. A little help here please? --Xamikaze330 (talk|contribs) 23:42, 6 November 2012 (EST)Xamikaze330

They first show up on Requiem, although these ones fire a purple beam.Col. Snipes450 01:08, 9 November 2012 (EST)
Well then, if that's true, then can we get a one or two high-resolution screenshots of the Aggressor Sentinel in Halo 4? I won't believe it until I see it with my own eyes. --Xamikaze330 (talk|contribs) 11:46, 9 November 2012 (EST)Xamikaze330
By the way, I just went out and bought the Halo 4 Collector's Edition Game Guide, and I saw no mention of any Aggressor Sentinels. Could it be you're getting the Promethean Sentinel Watcher confused with the Aggressor Sentinel? To which I believe is most likely the case. --Xamikaze330 (talk|contribs) 14:35, 9 November 2012 (EST)Xamikaze330
Scratch my last message. They are definitely encountered in Mission 2 of Requiem, but are not hostile. I even have a screenshot within my game guide to prove it. I just have to scan it in, but to be honest I prefer not to, as my scans generally don't come out they I want them to, even with my dad's printer-scanner. But there it is, you have confirmed proof. Now all we need is high-quality screenshot or two to show for it. --Xamikaze330 (talk|contribs) 14:59, 9 November 2012 (EST)Xamikaze330

Adding a Changes Section[edit]

Shouldn't there be a changes section saying of how they changed in design from game to game? I mean, we have a changes section in nearly every other article on any weapon, vehicle or miscellaneous object that has been seen in more than one game. So, in light of this, should we not add something just like that? I'd do it right now if I could and if I had enough time, but unfortunately I'm kinda busy juggling homework and tech crew responsibilities. I'll add what I can with the time that I have (which isn't much at all), but if someone could also get to work on this, I think the article would look a whole lot better. Just a friendly suggestion. :-) --Xamikaze330 (talk|contribs) 16:24, 25 February 2013 (EST)Xamikaze330

UPDATE: Never mind, I guess that clears that up, mostly. Now on to the next issue... --Xamikaze330 [Transmission|Commencing] 13:25, 9 September 2013 (EDT)Xamikaze330

Halo Wars Gameplay section[edit]

As evidenced by the title above, I think this article would also greatly benefit from a Gameplay section on Halo Wars. I would do it myself if I had played the game itself, or happened to own the Halo Wars Game Guide (which I don't), so in light of those two facts, if someone who has played the game and/or read the game guide could get on this, it would be most appreciated. Let's help to satiate any and all curiosities, shall we? --Xamikaze330 [Transmission|Commencing] 13:25, 9 September 2013 (EDT)Xamikaze330

Aggressor Sentinel according to H4TEVG[edit]

On page 133 of the Halo 4: Essential Visual Guide, the Aggressor Sentinel is referred to as the "Z-1500 Automated Systems Drone". This should be documented in the article. Another thing of note is that Aggressor Sentinels are able to fly using an exotic type of impulse drive, and are also able to tap into their installation's translocation grid. Further information as follows: Length is 9.6 feet (2.9 meters), width is 6.3 feet (1.9 meters), and height is 5 feet (1.5 meters). All this should be put into the article. I'll try to get around to it myself when I have some time to spare (have to go for my run, take my shower and get my hair cut, not necessarily in that order), or unless someone else here decides to beat me to it. --Xamikaze330 [Transmission|Commencing] 13:13, 17 September 2013 (EDT)Xamikaze330

Main Infobox Picture[edit]

Hey, just wondering, maybe the main infobox image should be changed to one from Halo 4, as it is the most recent version seen. Unless there is some objection, maybe it could be changed to the Halo 3 version instead? I don't know, what do y'all think? --Xamikaze330 [Transmission|Commencing] 17:31, 19 September 2013 (EDT)Xamikaze330

I may be wrong but isn't their an image policy for the infobox that the image should be from the newest material? This is something it seems every page follows, except the Jiralhanae Chieftain page. So I say go for it.Sith-venator Wavingstrider Fett helmet.jpg (Commlink) 17:53, 19 September 2013 (EDT)
It's actually the most recent in terms of the canon progression, i.e. in-universe chronology over out-universe development. That's why the Brute Chieftain article uses the image from Halo 3 over the one from Halo: Reach. — subtank 18:05, 19 September 2013 (EDT)
Ah I was close. Either way that equals out to a Halo 4 Sentinel needed for that infobox. Make us proud Xamikaze.Sith-venator Wavingstrider Fett helmet.jpg (Commlink) 18:24, 19 September 2013 (EDT)
There was a proper discussion of this somewhere... but I couldn't find it. Oh well, at least that clear things up. :) — subtank 18:44, 19 September 2013 (EDT)

Fan Art[edit]

The two colored concept art pictures in the gallery of this article are actually fan art. You can find the original source here: http://www.deviantart.com/art/Sentinel-Runner-Rendering-331946165 M0aHerder (talk) 12:19, 20 January 2014 (EST)

I found them on CGHub.com, as part of Halo 4 concept art. They're as official as it gets. --Xamikaze330 [Transmission|Commencing] 13:23, 20 January 2014 (EST)Xamikaze330
Do you have a link? I can't find either picture anywhere on CGhub, nor does it seem to have been made by any of the concept artists that were featured in the Halo 4 Art Book, as I just recently looked up all of their profiles (trying to compile all the concept art out there). The deviantART image I linked to was posted a month before Halo 4 came out, the only concept art we should have had by that point was the ones posted on Waypoint. At the very least the images are credited to the wrong person, as the "SMZ" at the bottom is the signature of the artist I linked to, who claims that the image is fan art. M0aHerder (talk) 13:40, 20 January 2014 (EST)
Per above, a link would be nice. I too have made the relevant searches on that website and found none. And this is why it is important to place a source on images found on the internet, using the Information template! — subtank 13:44, 20 January 2014 (EST)
Okay, I admit I was a little rushed in my answer. I may have gotten them from DeviantART instead of CGHub, like I originally thought. I hope this doesn't mean we have to delete them? --Xamikaze330 [Transmission|Commencing] 14:12, 20 January 2014 (EST)Xamikaze330
Unless you can think of a reason, we would have to since they serve no purpose on this wiki.— subtank 14:14, 20 January 2014 (EST)
Then do what you will. I've removed them from my gallery userpage, and have tagged them with the Delete template. --Xamikaze330 [Transmission|Commencing] 15:14, 20 January 2014 (EST)Xamikaze330

Gold Aggressor Sentinel "Majors"[edit]

I thought that it should be noted that, despite a difference of opinions of canonicity, the Halo Encyclopedia (both the older and revised editions) refer to the gold-plated Aggressor Sentinel as a Sentinel Major. While I'm aware that much or some of the Halo Encyclopedia's content came from Halopedia (I find that amusing, and maybe a little bit ironic), I'm wondering if we should consider the title canon in light of this. If so, and we are all (or most) of us in agreement, then it should be added. No need for a separate article, it can be added as an entirely new subsection to the article. It has only one single appearance anyway, and not a lot of information either to warrant a separate article. So, does anyone else have anything to say on this? Thoughts, observations, or objections? --Xamikaze330 [Transmission|Commencing] 12:44, 3 February 2014 (EST)Xamikaze330

For what it's worth, it's a Sentinel Major or Sentinel Minor in the same way as you have Elite Major, Elite Minor, Jackal Major, Jackal Minor, Grunt Major, Grunt Minor. They are more file categories in the game files than what is outwardly apparent in the lore. An Elite Major is a veteran or in game terms is harder to kill and smarter than a Minor. Again, for what it's worth. -ScaleMaster117 (talk) 13:13, 3 February 2014 (EST)
