The article says "yet fractionally scales and amplifies force," but my copy of Fall of Reach clearly says "fractally scales". Certainly could just be a typo on Nylund's part -- especially since my copy of the book is one of the original run -- but I was just wondering if this was cleared up somewhere, or if we're only assuming it was meant to be "fractionally". If it's the latter, then -- even though "fractally" isn't a real word -- I do want to point out that "fractionally" doesn't really make sense, since the armor was stated to approximately double power output in the very next sentence of the book (page 115 on my pocket/mass paperback, for reference). Anyway, thanks for listening. :You're right. "Fractionally" doesn't make sense at all unless we're talking x number of y-th fractions, where x>y. But then that is a very odd way of saying multiply. "Fractally" somewhat makes sense on a geometric level, if we're talking about how it provides structure when electrical charge is applied.--[[User:Ender the Xenocide|Ender the Xenocide]] 03:16, 31 August 2014 (EDT) | :You're right. ::I noticed the source for that sentence referenced the Halo: CE Strategies and Secrets book, and wondered if that said "fractionally." Luckily, the link provided includes a short preview of the book, which does encompass the Halo Bible entry on page 5 that the phrase is taken from. There, it uses the same phrasing as in my copy of Fall, saying "fractally." So feel free to change it back, of course, but I'm going to go ahead and change the phrasing to match these two sources. I'm also going to do so on related pages, if I find the phrasing; I'll note the pages edited here, in case it needs to be changed back later. | ::I noticed the source for that sentence referenced the Halo: CE Strategies and Secrets book, and wondered if that said "fractionally." ::EDIT: Searched through the pages for MJOLNIR, SPARTAN-II Program, Halsey, and each individual incarnation of MJOLNIR armor; this page (Polymerized lithium niobocene) was the only one edited.
