Objection: Encyclopedic Source?[edit]
I just looked at the Halo Encyclopedia on page 268, and I saw no mention of the Phantom Gunboat whatsoever anywhere on the either of the pages (268-269). Since I can find no evidence, I'm requesting verification of this so-called source. Xamikaze330 20:25, 24 August 2011 (EDT)Xamikaze330
- The encyclopedia was made before Reach, so it's likely BS. pestilence Phil, pestilence! 22:33, 24 August 2011 (EDT)
- That's what I thought. Thanks. Xamikaze330 00:35, 25 August 2011 (EDT)Xamikaze330
Type or Class?[edit]
Does anyone have any further data regarding what type or what class this starship belongs? I had hoped to gain further information from the new Halo: The Essential Visual Guide, but it didn't have any new information to offer. I certainly hope there is more information available on this subject of starship, maybe from an employee from Bungie Studios, or maybe 343 Industries, or maybe in the updated Halo Encyclopedia, or some other reference source. - In theory, it'd still be a Type-52, but with an alternate classification or sub-designation like "Type-52 Gunship" or "Type-52 Troop Carrier-Gunship (/Gunship)". --WTRiker (talk) 01:34, 15 March 2013 (EDT)
I wish we had more info on it. It was not included as a separate entry in the Visual Guide and I wish we'd been able to include it. There wasn't enough room for text in the Visual Guide to even make mention of it. It's physically larger than a standard Phantom and I've added the craft's dimensions to the page. It's type designation (like the Phantom dropship's T-52 designation) would likely be for the year it was first encountered. Unfortunately we still don't know that info. I'm hoping it will one day be revealed. I hate not knowing this stuff! ScaleMaster117 (talk) 19:20, 7 June 2013 (EDT)
- Me too, so you're not the only one. --Xamikaze330 [Transmission|Commencing] 12:04, 25 February 2014 (EST)Xamikaze330
Aesthetic Trivia?[edit]
Just making a note here that it does kinda remind me of the ealier Halo 2-era version of the Phantom Dropship, except that the Phantom in Halo 2 had only one massive retractable plasma cannon on either side, whereas the Phantom Gunboat has two plasma cannons on both sides. Not sure if it is really worth noting in the article, but I thought I'd just throw it out here. --Xamikaze330 [Transmission|Commencing] 12:04, 25 February 2014 (EST)Xamikaze330
- Actually, if you play Reach on a high enough difficulty, when you battle around the Covenant corvette in a Sabre, you can see it has many (maybe up to 9 I think) of the Gunboat's plasma cannons on the corvette. Despite these both being the same, it's a different design than the Halo 2 Phantom. -ScaleMaster117 (talk) 14:46, 25 February 2014 (EST)
