The only thing that throws off my theory is the fact that Nicole's number is not between 1 and 150 (but then, it throws most all theories off, right?). Either way, If everyone could look in their Halo: The Fall of Reach books, they'll note that there are 3 Spartans who are not at Reach when it died (great word for a non-living thing). It's iffy, but Nicole could be one of those 3 of Grey team. They may have been sent to this station that was under attack by covenant. She could have been the only survivor of the attack, since no other Spartans or people are onbaord the station. It fell victim of the slipspace anomaly, and was sent back to 2004. I remember awhile back someone said something along the lines of: "She can't be a Spartan-II only 150 were given numbers!" to which another person responded, "Who said the Spartan number designations are in numerical order?" Now I'd love to say that this was Frankie responding to an email in a Bungie weekly update, or a Wikipedia discussion page, but I just can't remember.

The reason she exists is because Bungie did not want DoA4 to use the Master Chief as the SPARTAN character they wanted, for story reasons. So they created Nicole and gave her a back story that, despite a few consistency issues (which a lot of events have anyway), fits in with the ilovebees time-space anomaly. If ilovebees is to be considered canon, then why does Nicole get classified as non-canon just because she appears in a non-Halo game? Also, if the DoA-Halo connection event was ''meant'' to be non-canon, then they could easily have allowed John to be the playable character instead of making a new one, since it would not impact his role in the Halo story at all.

The SPARTAN II page states that Nicole-458 here is a survivor of the augmentations for Class II. Same page also states that Class II started in 2531 but Halsey dropped all funding and judged the recruits as from an inferior strand. 2537, six years later, and enough viable recruits join the program and training begins. Nicole survives augmentation. By 2552, doing the math, she's only 15 years old. If she was part of that "inferior strand" back in 2531, then she would be about 21 years old. Are there any sources that state her age? As she is apparently canon in Bungie/343i's eyes, I feel like this is useful information not just for this article but for the SPARTAN II article as well, since it also helps clarify the canonicity of Class II. 15 year old SPARTANs just aren't ready for combat. At least, I would think not. Is she 15 or 21?
:If she was born in 2531, she'd have been six when the second class started in 2537, and 21 in 2552. The Spartans weren't conscripted as newborns so I don't see the problem. Also, the original Spartan-IIs were deployed into combat when they were 14, and most of the Spartan-IIIs were only 12, some likely younger than that.
