Well, there's a big bright flaming fireball in the sky - that's going to light everything up, isnt it? its like light pollution - enough light, and the sky lights up too. Though in the game, it had only one firing mode, that is, a three-round burst, but according to ''Halo: The Essential Visual Guide'', fictionally, the battle rifle actually has three firing modes (which I assume is automatic, semi-automatic, and single-shot, I think, according to'' Contact Harvest'', if I remember everything correctly). So, I would consider to not be in error, nor oversight, not even a battle rifle variant. The Guide implicitly states that the battle rifle does indeed have three different firing modes.
