Because all the groups regarding ghost hunting i was in died. and it seemed that i just lost interest because i just stopped searching. but anyway I'm still a bit active in the community though. I was playing on a game type I have in reach that makes you spawn with no weapon, and I found that if you crouch and move in any way, your character will glide across the ground. You will also go into a pose which looks like the Spartan (I don't know about Elites.) is holding an assault rifle. To note, I firmly believe that these so-called "ghosts" are simply the product of latency issues between host player and other players. If one were to list out similarities between all sightings, it would be this exact issue. This issue can be traced back to Halo PC (and Custom Edition) due to the old netcode (though the netcode has improved in newer titles). This issue comes into being when the affected players have bad connection at their end or that they were using a wireless connection rather than a wired connection for their consoles (there's a reason why online games are recommended to be played with wired connections after all). As for the behaviour of these so-called "ghosts", the odd animation (or lack thereof) is most likely attributed to the player's connection as well: to make use of HCE/HPC as an example, a laggy player, form their point of view, would see their biped performing the action but the action would only be executed seconds after. For other players, they would either see the laggy player warping around whilst doing the action or they would see the laggy player performing the action and then warp around the map. Regardless, the cause of this issue in HPC/HCE is primarily (and I would say, solely) due to latency issue. These occurrences have reduced in newer titles because of measures made at a technical level: [[wikipedia:Lag (online gaming)|Wikipedia provides a neat overview of this "fix"]].
 
That being said, I believe a major cleanup is needed, with all the "sightings" summarised to a paragraph (as there is no need for an individual section for each title). Also, there is no need for a "witchhunt" section covering recently-found "ghosts". The article should also be renamed to something more appropriate (maybe "Laggy players"?). It is possible to consider merging with [[Lag]] as it is more relevant but I would consider that it is quite notable to have its own article.
